In April, we will be focusing on ideas to help with getting organized and spring cleaning.
We’ll share our best ideas and tips for dealing with all those unfinished projects and piles we know we have and you just might have too!
Leigh Anne got a head start when she declared Spring Break as Project Week. You can read more about it here.

Since moving into a smaller home a few years ago, my projects have gone to the wayside. Mostly my scrapbooking efforts but also my crosstitching. Yes, I have small children, so that is a major part of it – I just don’t have the time & energy that I used to.
But also, at least with scrapbooking, I don’t have a place in the home that I can leave everything out. It got really old really fast to pull out what I wanted to do, just to go to someone else’s home (who had more space!!) to work on a page or two for a few hours, then schlep everything home & put it all back into closets. And that’s another pain, is wanting for that closet space since I’m not really doing much with the scrapbooking. But I’m unsure of how safe it is to store it anywhere else (like the garage).
It’s been a long while & the thought of scrapbooking now just seems overwhelming because I’m so far behind & I’m not even sure of what I have in terms of paper, stickers, etc. I like the idea of going digital, but even that takes organizing of sorts as well as time in front of the computer – something I just don’t have very much of these days!
Those are my projects – no goals to finish any of them anytime soon
I have many projects but the one I’m tackling this month is my basement. I have an area that we have been working on to be my scrapbooking/card making place. It’s a BIG MESS. But I’ve cleaned up an even bigger one in this same basement.
Several years ago there was so much junk taking up space in my basement that there was only a narrow path that led to the washer and dryer. In one summer I cleared out enough of that junk to create 3 separate areas. I did it 15 minutes at a time. I am not kidding. I just picked a place to start, brought my timer downstairs and focused on that one spot for 15 minutes. Tossing in garbage bags, placing in donate boxes or putting on a KEEP shelf. It did seem overwhelming at first but after 10 days there was a noticeable difference in my basement. When I was waiting for the washer or dryer to finish because I went down a bit early, I would go to where I left off and do a little more. By the beggining of September there was space that was becoming useful. It has been on occasion but it is now time to finish what I started. I’m starting with my personal space down there. It’s been painted, a counter top and shelving installed that is now covered with stuff. I now need to cull through the stuff to get rid of what I don’t want/need and find homes for the things I want to use. My goal is to be able to sit down there and work on my projects starting in May.
Then I can move on to the kids play area before they outgrow it!
